Choosing the Bachelor of Film and Television degree at the Department of Film and TV (FTV) focuses on the theory, practice, artistic creation of cinema and other moving image media. The most significant art form of its time is the moving image. It is Visual storytelling in the Digital era. The BA FTV program focuses on the artistic creation of cinema and moving image media. With a carefully designed four-year curriculum, students learn both traditional and modern filmmaking techniques. Foreign qualified faculty and state-of-the-art equipment prepare students for the film, television, and digital content industry globally.

This program is to nurtures creative visionaries by blending cinematic theory with hands-on practice. Our curriculum, led by experienced faculty and supported by advanced technology, equips students to excel in the global media landscape, mastering both traditional and digital storytelling techniques.

Program Educational Objectives (PEO)

Develop Critical Storytelling Skills: Equip students with the ability to craft compelling narratives across various media, focusing on both traditional and emerging forms of storytelling. Master Technical Proficiency: Ensure students gain hands-on experience with industry-standard equipment and software, preparing them to excel in all technical aspects of film and television production. Foster Creative Innovation: Encourage students to explore and experiment with innovative approaches to filmmaking, pushing the boundaries of visual storytelling and contributing original content to the industry.

Scope Of the Program

Graduates with a BA in Film & TV can pursue careers in various production roles, such as directors, producers, cinematographers, editors, and sound designers. Opportunities to work on film sets, television productions, or even in emerging digital media platforms, contributing to the creation of engaging and visually appealing content. With the rise of streaming services, there is an increasing demand for original content. BA Film & TV graduates can find opportunities to create, produce, and contribute content for platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and others. Graduates can explore roles in the broader media and entertainment industry, including advertising, marketing, and public relations for film and television. This involves promoting and managing the distribution of content, events, and productions

Notes:

Withholding Tax which was chargeable on fee, where annual fee exceeds Rs. 200,000 under section 236 (i) of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001 (The Ordinance) has been omitted by the Finance Act 2022. However, this tax will be charged to the students as when implemented again by the Government.

Entry Requirements

1:Completion of Intermediate with a minimum of 45% marks or equivalent qualification.
2:Submission of a drawing or game-related portfolio (preferred).

Need-Based Scholarship

The grant of scholarships to students who do not have such means to pay up the full fee of their degree program. This scholarship is meant to recognize their financial burden and to give a subsidy on their tuition fee enabling them to continue their studies. Scholarships will range from 10% – 50% of the Tuition fee based on the facts and documentation of the relevant applicant.

Merit-Based Scholarship

The grant of scholarship to students who got a certain percentage of marks in their intermediate/A level/any equivalent to HSSC results and are promising scholars. The scholarship is given in various degree programs as per the marks obtained by the applicant and its continuation is based on the maintenance of CGPA as per the following table.
