Sunny Jain’s mesmerizing performance at IAC

 

Sunny Jain music band gave a mesmerizing performance, a fusion of eastern and western music at IAC in front of a jam-packed auditorium filled with students and faculty members.

Mr. Paul Garr, Cultural Affairs Officer, U.S. Consulate General, Lahore, Miss Hannah Johnson, Public Diplomacy Officer, U.S. Embassy, Islamabad, Mr. Tanveer Hassan, Cultural Affairs Specialist, U.S. Consulate, Lahore and Ustad Rustam Fateh Ali Khan were also present at the occasion and greatly appreciated Sunny Jain band’s performance.

The event begins with the recitation of the Holy Quran and the National Anthems of Pakistan and USA. Mr. Sunny Jain’s band has received worldwide praise for their music that incorporates South Asian-Punjabi bhangra music with elements of hip-hop and jazz. The band’s energetic performance on ‘Kala Mukhra’, Tunak Tunak Tun, Duma Dum Mast Kalandar and a few other melodies left the students groove on music. The band received a big round of applause and a standing ovation for a mesmerizing show.

IAC music society also performed at the event; ‘Attan’ a Cultural Pashtun dance that was acknowledged by the honorable guest and band members. In the interactive session on Music and Pakistan, Alison Shearer shared her experience regarding the tour of Pakistan. She said that this is one of the most memorable times of her life as they received immense love and appreciation for their performance on this tour. They have tried Pakistani food i.e Gajar ka halwa, Gol Gappay and truly loved it. The band had collaborated with Pakistan’s renowned music artist i.e Ali Sethi and few others. Ryan Durge said ‘It was an amazing experience working with them. Moreover, he said that he have grown up listening to the legendary music artist Ustad Salamat Ali Khan, Mehdi Hassan Khan and Malika-e-Tarannum Noor Jehan. It has been an enriching and inspiring experience to perform at IAC. Music and art are expressions of joy and celebration. It has the power to unite people of different backgrounds together. On this note, Ryan sang a few lines from Ali Sethi’s Chandni Raatein pleasing the audience with a huge round of applause. 

In the end, Registrar Brig (R) Muhammad Safeer Vaseer thanked the honourable guests and said it was a privilege to have Sunny Jain’s band for their performance in IAC. The event was hosted by Warda Qamar, a Student of IAC.
