BIOGRAPHY:
Dr. Shahida Manzoor (gold medallist) is the first Pakistani woman who earned her Ph.D. (2003) from Ohio University, the USA in Interdisciplinary Arts with a double major, Theatre and Visual Arts. She is considered one of the renowned artists in Pakistan. Started teaching at Punjab University and taught for four years at Ohio University, USA. She initiated Ph.D. and MPhil programs for the first time at Punjab University, College of Art and Design.
As a Coordinator of the Research Centre, College of Art and Design, University of the Punjab, she supervised 12 doctoral students and more than 50 MPhil, and MFA students. Published 20 research papers in HEC-recognized journals. Her major areas of research are; History of Art, Art Criticism, Architecture, and Aesthetics. Served as Principal College of Art & Design from 2014 to 2020. In this capacity, she has supervised some of the major architectural projects including the first-ever Renovation of the Grand Hall of Punjab University and Lecture Theatre. Moreover PC-1 for a new block, development of new block and computer labs.
Dr. Shahida Manzoor played an active role in developing curriculums for Ph.D. and MPhil programs. Dr. Shahida is a member of Syndicate (University of Sahiwal), a permanent member of the Selection Board (Women University, Sialkot), Academic Council (University of Punjab), and a member of the Board of Studies (GC University Faisalabad, GC University Lahore, and Women University Rawalpindi).
She has exhibited artworks in numerous national and international group shows along with 2 solo shows. She is the recipient of the COT scholarship and the Shakir Ali Award.
