Dr. Najma Najam is a trailblazer in higher education in Pakistan, being the first woman Vice-Chancellor in Punjab and only the second in the country’s history. As the founding Vice-Chancellor of Fatima Jinnah Women University, she laid the groundwork for women’s education in Pakistan from 1998 to 2007. She later served as Vice-Chancellor of Karakoram International University in Gilgit, focusing on education in high mountain areas.
With over 50 years of experience, Dr. Najam has established a strong reputation as a psychologist, educator, and administrator. She specializes in Behavioral Neuroscience and has taught a wide range of subjects, including Research Methodology and Neuropsychology, while supervising numerous doctoral and master’s theses.
Prof. Dr. Najma najam has presented over 300 papers at national and international conferences, workshops, and colloquiums, focusing on psychology, women’s education, and behavioral neuroscience. She has authored approximately 200 publications, including research articles and book chapters, significantly contributing to the fields of psychology and education. Her work has been published in notable academic journals, where she has also served on editorial boards. further influencing the academic community and promoting women’s empowerment through education.
