Initial semesters focus on developing sensitivity to the built environment and socio-cultural contexts, culminating in the third semester’s thesis project, where students demonstrate their research and design prowess.
Scope:
The course is designed to provide advanced knowledge and specialized skills to meet the evolving demands of the field of Interior Design. It typically encompasses a blend of theoretical study, practical application, and research-based projects aimed at preparing students for leadership roles in the industry. Courses often cover advanced topics such as advanced design theory and history, design research methodologies, advanced digital modeling and visualization techniques, sustainable design strategies, human factors and ergonomics, and design for specific populations or specialized environments. Students may also explore emerging trends and technologies in interior design, such as virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) applications, smart home technologies, and biophilic design principles. Collaborative projects and internships with industry partners provide opportunities for students to gain real-world experience and develop professional networks. Admission Criteria:
Applicants must hold a minimum of 16 years of education or equivalent qualification with at least 50% marks from HEC-recognized institutions.
Candidates must pass IAC’s aptitude and drawing test with minimum 50% OR has a valid GAT.

Candidates must hold one of the following prerequisite bachelor degrees with minimum CGPA 2.0, duly recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan and relevant professional councils such as the Pakistan Council of Architecture and Town Planners (PCATP) .

Introduction:
The program, offering both specialized and general studies options, is a strategic response to the multifaceted needs and aspirations of architecture students and the evolving dynamics of the profession. Both options are designed to equip graduates with advanced knowledge and research skills in architecture. In the specialized option, the candidates have great flexibility to select the area of their own choice for in-depth studies. This option strengthens the graduates in their chosen architectural careers, while also contributing to the advancement of the architectural discipline in Pakistan and on the global stage. The M. Arch (General) option covers some important areas but not any specific or specialized area. It provides a broad-based understanding of the field and its connections to other disciplines, enhancing the versatility and adaptability of an evolving professional. In both options, the program structure includes a combination of four core courses and four elective courses with a thesis. In M. Arch (specialized), the core courses, elective courses, and thesis are aligned with the specialization area. In the general option of M. Arch, the core courses are diversified, and elective courses contribute to these areas. In this option, the thesis must address one of the core areas. Both options are designed for 30 credit hours and shall be considered equivalent for all practical purposes. An NOC from HEC have been acquired as the requirement to start the M. Arch program.

Scope:
The course is designed to provide specialized skills and research methodologies for architects and professionals with equivalent qualifications. It comprises of specialized and advanced theoretical courses and an extensive research based architectural dissertation project. Courses cover a breadth of knowledge with two specialized tracks of general and specialized based. With the general track core courses of architectural heritage and conservation, responsive architecture, research methods and energy efficient architecture, students are introduced to the current trends in architecture in Pakistan and internationally. Furthermore, specialized track includes specialized courses based on the domain of architectural heritage and conservation. It has core courses such as architectural heritage and conservation, research methods for heritage conservation, heritage legislation and policies and conservation theory, history and technology. Master of Architecture graduates are expected to lead and make meaningful contributions to the field of architecture and design through the focus on critical thinking, creativity and innovation.
