The second Board of Faculty Meeting for the School of Digital & Cinematic
Art at the Institute for Art and Culture was held on Monday, September 9,
2024.
The meeting was chaired by Prof. Dr. Shahida Manzoor, Pro-Vice Chancellor
of the Institute for Art & Culture. Mr. Adeel Hashmi, a renowned actor,
educationist, and director from Pakistani entertainment industry,
participated as industry expert while Mr. Nasir Ali Mazari, Assistant Professor
at BNU, participated as academia expert. Dr. Asim Manzoor represented
School of Digital & Cinematic Art with Mr. Sikandar Javed, Mr. Syed Ali Sultan,
Ms. Sameeha Qadeer and Ms. Ushna representing their respective
departments. A healthy discussion was carried out on revamping the
schemes of studies according to new HEC policy.
The experts appreciated the School of Digital & Cinematic Art for its efforts
to update the schemes of studies of all the departments keeping in view the
requirement of industry and creating a skill-set based curriculum to
address the challenges of industry.

Mr. Sikandar Javed, a Lecturer in the
Department of Film & TV at the School of Digital
& Cinematic Art, was recently invited as a
guest on the popular morning show Jaago
Lahore, aired on Lahore News Channel from the
Dunya News Office. Hosted by Muniba Asif, the
segment focused on the evolving art of
photography.
During the discussion, Mr. Sikandar
emphasized the growing importance of
photography as a profession in the digital age,
highlighting its vast potential for future growth.
He explored into the nuances of product
photography, shedding light on the various
factors that can impact its visual appeal, from
lighting and composition to the integration of
storytelling techniques. His insights offered
valuable guidance for aspiring photographers
and underscored the profession's critical role in
shaping modern visual communication.
BOARD OF STUDIES – FTV
The second Board of Studies (BOS) meeting of the Department of Film & TV
(FTV), School of Digital & Cinematic Art (SDCA), was held on Wednesday,
September 4, 2024. Mr. Sikandar Javed, the BOS Convener, chaired the
meeting, which was attended by Dr. Asghar Nadeem Syed, Dean of the
School of Languages and Literature at the University of Lahore (UOL), Dr.
Wajiha Raza Rizvi, Associate Professor and Head of the MS Film & TV
Program at BNU, Ms. Simi Raheal an actor, activist, and academician, Mr.
Nouman Shahid, Director of QEC at the IAC, Dr. Asim Manzoor, Assistant
Professor, Department of Media & Communication Studies at IAC, Mr. Syed
Ali Sultan, Assistant Professor, Department of Media & Communication
Studies at IAC, Mr. Mian Umar Farooq, FTV Lecturer at IAC and Ms. Kanza
Sajid, Coordinator of SDCA, IAC. The BOS members commended the
Department of Film & TV for the organization, planning, documentation, and
structure of the meeting. Mr. Sikandar Javed expressed his gratitude to the
honorable BOS members for their time and valuable input.

The Department of Film & TV conducted the
interview of new applicants for the degree
Bachelor of Film & TV. The panel included Dr.
Asim Manzoor, Acting Dean of School of Digital
& Cinematic Art; Mr. Syed Ali Sultan, Assistant
Professor of the Department of Media &
Communication Studies; Mr. Sikandar Javed;
and Mr. Mian Umar Farooq, both Lecturers in
the Department of Film & TV.
During the interviews, applicants express their
vision and passion to choose and study the
Film & TV degree. They showcased their
portfolio to the panelist. The panelist also
highlighted the opportunities, insight details
and hands-on training provided by the
department.

PROUD TO ANNOUNCE HIRING OF
NEW FACULTY!
The Game Design Department proudly hosted a Grand
Thesis Opening this month, inaugurated by Pro-Vice
Chancellor Dr. Shahida. Students showcased their
creativity and talent through a diverse range of game
projects, each demonstrating unique ideas and concepts.
Among the standout projects was Hamza’s immersive VR
space experience, which captivated attendees with its
cutting-edge technology and attention to detail,
transporting players to new worlds and offering an
unforgettable gaming experience. Samia's project on
dissociative identity disorder (DID) also left a lasting
impact with its exploration of psychological themes.
The Thesis Display attracted visitors from various
university departments, external institutions, and software
houses, reflecting the wide interest and appreciation for
the students' work in game design.
As our students embark on the next chapter of their
journey, we wish them the best of luck! May they continue
to push boundaries, innovate, and inspire in the
ever-evolving world of game design.
We are thrilled to share the highlights from our final thesis
year juries in the Game Design department! This
significant event brought together esteemed
professionals and industry experts who provided
invaluable feedback to our talented students.
Leading the jury panel was Sir Asad Sohail from Tintash, a
distinguished studio in Lahore. His deep understanding of
art and design principles brought rich insights to the
discussions. Alongside him was industry professional
Obaid Ul Mohsin from Design Park, whose extensive
industry experience and real-world perspective added a
vital layer of practical knowledge to the feedback process.
Throughout the juries, students received constructive
criticism aimed at refining their projects for portfolio
inclusion and preparing them for the game design
pipeline. From perfecting gameplay mechanics to
enhancing visual aesthetics, every aspect of their work
was meticulously evaluated to ensure the highest level of
excellence.
As our students take in this valuable feedback and
continue polishing their skills, we are confident they are
poised to make a lasting impact in the competitive world
of game design.
